Nutrition at Little Star Day SchoolLittle Star Day School offers children age appropriated and healthy food. The menus are balanced and child friendly. During the day we serve a snack in the morning, hot lunch at noon and a snack in the afternoon. With all meals children get water, milk, sugar-free juices or tea (dietary requirements are followed strictly). Food is prepared daily and is served only once. Weekly menu plans are posted in all schools. Infants have their own menus based on the instruction of parents; e.g. parents can bring mother-milk. Additionally we can also give milk power following the parental instructions. At the age of 1 year we start serving mashed or solid food to the infant. Step by step the meals are adjusted to daily family food. Toddlers are encouraged to start eating by using knife, fork and spoon. The older the children get step by step more involved in preparing the meals (cooking activities), learning more about nutrition and table manners. Children of the kindergarten group eat and serve themselves independently. |
